NOTIFICATION - IMPLEMENTATION OF EXCISE DUTY FOR SUGAR & SWEETENED BEVERAGES 2019

Please be informed that the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) will be implementing the Excise Duty for SUGAR & SWEETENED BEVERAGES (SSB) 2019 effective 1 July 2019. The affected Tariff Code and SSB excise duty rates for importation can be obtained from Excise Duty (Amendment) Order PU(A) 154 gazetted on 31 May 2019. All Customs Declaration Front-end software are requires to update the Excise Duty Rate for the affected Tariff Codes accordingly by the implementation date.

2. For SSB Excise Duty exemption, kindly refer to Excise Duty (Exemption) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order PU (A) 156 gazetted on 31 May 2019. The specific exemption “Butiran No.” related to the Tariff Code and Goods Descriptions is to be captured in the Customs Declaration Form during importation. The Excise Duty Exemption Declaration is as the current excise duty exemption declaration method.
