Kuala Lumpur, 30 September 2015 – Executive Deputy Chairman of Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”) Datuk Samsul Husin has been named “Ikon Usahawan BCPLC 2014-2105” by Ikon PLC Bumiputera, a business publication that monitors and highlights performance of Bumiputera-led public listed companies in Malaysia.

He received the recognition based on achievements in leading two public listed companies namely Censof Holdings Berhad (“Censof”), involved in the design, development, implementation and marketing of financial management solutions, and DNeX, a leading provider of e-commerce services for Trade Facilitation that also aspires to be a reputable player in the oil, gas and energy sector.

Datuk Samsul’s journey in business began from young when he started helping out his father who was a small trader in his hometown at Kampung Sungai Buah in Dengkil, Selangor. He set up Censof, then called Century Software (M) Sdn Bhd, in 1996 with a group of friends with their own, small amount of capital and successfully steered the company to become a public listed company in 2011 through Skim Jejak Jaya Bumiputera (“SJJB”) programme.

He took up another immense challenge when Censof acquired Khazanah Nasional Berhad’s entire equity interest of 45.03 per cent in DNeX, then known as TIME Engineering Berhad, in 2013, for a price of RM69.82 million in tender process.

About a year after this acquisition, DNeX under Datuk Samsul’s leadership reported solid turnaround in performance bouncing back from a loss-making position to profitability for the financial year ended 31 December 2014 (“FY2014”). In FY2014, the company posted profit after tax of RM17.77 million as compared to net loss of RM21,000 the year before.

He added that his gratitude also goes to national programmes such as SJJB and organisations such as Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad (“MAVCAP”) and Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (“TERAJU”) for providing much-needed assistance for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.

Datuk Samsul attributes achievements of both Censof and DNeX as a collective and effective teamwork among staff as well as a performance-based culture that he diligently strives to nurture within these two companies.

And his advice to entrepreneurs, “Be sincere and persistent in whatever you do, and God willing you will be successful.”
