Kuala Lumpur, 20 July 2017 – Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”) is expanding on the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility with its involvement in the Upper Secondary Apprenticeship Programme (“PIMA”) by Ministry of Education.
The programme will help increase student enrolment in technical and vocational fields, and generate skilled workforce who are ready to enter the job market.
DNeX’s initial involvement in the programme is in the form of a RM100,000 contribution, which was presented at the launch of the pilot project of the programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bukit Rahman Putra in Sungai Buloh recently.
At the event, Executive Deputy Chairman of DNeX Datuk Samsul Husin presented the contribution to the the school’s Parent Teacher Association president Dato’ Azmin Mustam Abdul Karim, and witnessed by Minister of Education YB Dato’ Seri Mahdzir Khalid
“We are excited to be given the opportunity to be involved in PIMA, which can help produce skilled workforce and meet requirements of the industry. Its industry apprenticeship or on-the-job training can serve as a complementary means to educate students in addition to the classroom,” said Datuk Samsul.
According to him, the programme is aligned to DNeX’s CSR focus in education and the company will review and pursue further involvement in this programme.
DNeX’s own flagship CSR programme in education – CampBijak – was established in 2016 to enhance the understanding and appreciation of Science and Technology amongst Malaysian school children via structured camps within a fun learning environment.
Last year, three successful sessions were organised, benefitting 188 underprivileged children from seven schools in Klang Valley. The first two sessions targeted Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (“UPSR”) candidates and the final edition engaged 70 secondary school students in an outdoor camping, which involved experiential Science-based activities.
