Cyberjaya, 18 November 2019 – Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”), has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with four universities in Indonesia to implement Dagang Net eScroll, a blockchain-powered Web application to authenticate certificates.

Under the agreement, these universities namely Universitas 45 Mataram, Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama, Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Mataram and Universitas Teknologi Sumbawa will be issuing their graduation certificates embedded with Dagang Net eScroll.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at Universitas Teknologi Sumbawa recently where Dagang Net was represented by Dato Syahril Abdullah, Director Strategic Alliance of DNeX. The four universities were represented by Dr Evron Asrial, Rector of Universitas 45 Mataram; Baiq Mulianah, Rector of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama; Zulkahfi, Rector of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Mataram, and Dr Andy Tirta, Rektor of Universitas Teknologi Sumbawa.

Dagang Net eScroll is an innovative blockchain-powered Web application for employers, graduates, universities and training providers to authenticate academic and training certificates. It has a unique signature and time-stamped certificate that can eliminate forgery unlike traditional paper-based documents.

Each certificate is tagged with a QR code linked to a blockchain platform to ensure secure, immutable and incorruptible environment. Issuing institutions keep a register of certificates on the blockchain represented by the QR code. Authentication of certificates is done by simply scanning the QR code. Thus, the verification process is made simple and transparent.

According to Datuk Samsul Husin, Executive Deputy Chairman of DNeX, and also Executive Chairman of Dagang Net, universities can benefit from using this state-of-the art technology to protect their most precious produce namely graduates and add value to their reputation.

“We are pleased to be working together with these four Indonesian universities in leveraging the numerous benefits that comes with early adoption of blockchain especially in the educational sector. Dagang Net eScroll is aimed to improve certificate provenance. In addition, trusted verification of graduates' credentials creates assurance for both graduates and future employers,” he added.
