Need for employees upskilling and reskilling

Rising unemployment resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic calls for an urgent need for employees upskilling and reskilling.

Towards this end, training provider World Skills Academy (“WSA”) in collaboration with Human Resources Development Fund (“HRDF”) and Social Security Organisation (“SOCSO”) has launched a range of tailored professional skills training programmes aligned to the PenjanaKerjaya programme.

PenjanaKerjaya is an economic recovery plan initiative under the Ministry of Human Resources, and administered by SOCSO’s National Employment Services aimed at promoting job creation among employers while increasing employment prospects.

According to WSA, through this programme, employees whose jobs have been impacted by the pandemic can develop skills they need to become re-employed.

“As PenjanaKerjaya is expected to create more jobs, SOCSO urges all unemployed individuals including graduates and school leavers to register their profile on SOCSO’s MyFutureJobs portal at www.myfuturejobs.gov.my,” said V K Kumeresan, President and Chief Executive Officer of WSA.

WSA has recently adopted Dagang Net eScroll, which is an innovative blockchain-powered web application for employers, graduates, universities and training providers to authenticate academic and training certificates

Dagang Net eScroll allows the training provider to issue official certificates that supply proof of training completion in a fast and efficient manner. Digital records registered on a blockchain are all cryptographically signed and tamper-proof which can eliminate forgery.

According to V K Kumeresan, employers looking for candidates to fill vacancies in their companies can start registering their profile via www.penjanakerjaya.perkeso.gov.my to receive #hireMalaysia40, an incentive of RM800 per month up to six months and training for hiring local job seekers.

Eligible employees meanwhile can receive Mobility Assistance allowances of RM600, and other incentives including Place & Train: Skills Training Programme initiative worth RM4,000 and training allowance of RM30 per day, he said.

Under PenjanaKerjaya, there is extensive list of approved courses for newly hired employees for the purpose of reskilling and upskilling, he added.

The company is a registered corporate training provider by HRDF and an approved vocational training academy with SOCSO in Malaysia, specialising in upskilling, re-skilling, consulting and talent placement solutions.
“We are dedicated to improve human capital quality by partnering employers to assess, envision, develop and execute powerful training that increases productivity, improves performance and inspires continuous focus on excellence through a wide range of learning solutions and training,” said V K Kumeresan.
