Message From Executive Chairman

Datuk Samsul Husin

Already there are too many indications that blockchain is fundamentally altering the business landscape yet many business are relying on the "wait-and-see" approach.

In Malaysia, the adoption rate is still at its early stage and the trend is seen to be similar globally. On the other hand, some economies are more readily embracing the technology and embedding blockchain in such segments as government, trade facilitation, logistics, and financial services.

Gartner Research 2018 predicts the technology to have a rampant global impact and will contribute to a great economic value beginning of 2027 to 2030. Blockchain can increase the efficiency and transparency of a range of verticals and segments, and these are just some of the technology's pull factors.

Blockchain can unlock opportunities that we cannot afford to miss; this is a summarised consensus among speakers at a Tech Talk on Blockchain organised at our corporate office in Cyberjaya recently.

Indeed, businesses need to start looking into how to embrace this technology. For Dagang Net as well as DNeX Group, we have seriously been looking into embedding blockchain into our services and even pursuing development of new services based on blockchain.

And the first new service from our blockchain venture is now ready to market.

Dagang Net is now offering an innovative platform for graduates and universities to authenticate graduation certificates via a camera-enabled, blockchain-based Web application. Called eScroll, this application has a unique signature and time-stamped certificate that can eliminate forgery unlike traditional paper-based documents.

In separate news, we are pleased to announce that Dagang Net has received the contract extension from the Government of Malaysia for the National Single Window ("NSW") for Trade Facilitation.

We would like to express its deepest appreciation to the Government of Malaysia namely the Ministry of Finance and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department for their continued confidence in the company. We are also extending our highest gratitude to customers and stakeholders including permit issuing agencies for their continued support.

In addition, we remain committed to offer top notch eServices in Trade Facilitation that not only meet requirements of customers but also offer value that can help customers further improve their operations and grow their business.

We hope you find this issue of DagangNetPOST insightful.
