The Ministry of Finance has announced the appointment of Yang Berbahagia Dato Paddy Abd Halim as the new director general of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department ("RMCD") effective 1 April 2019.

Dato Paddy began his career as a customs officer at Perak RMCD in 1983. He had also served in branches and divisions in Kuala Lumpur RMCD and at the headquarters before promoted as Management and Compliance Director in 2011.

In July 15, 2016, Paddy was promoted as Assistant Director General (Enforcement) and later became RMCD's Deputy Director General (Customs/GST) on July 1, 2017.
