Cyberjaya, 11 June 2020 – Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”), through subsidiary company DNeX RFID Sdn Bhd, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Universiti Teknologi Mara (“UiTM”) to drive development and commercialisation of Radio Frequency Identification (“RFID”) solutions.

Under the agreement, the two parties agree to work together for the establishment of an Industrial Research Laboratory to carry out research and development in RFID.

DNeX will be responsible for the commercialisation activities of products developed from the project. In addition, DNeX will be privy to acquire patents for new products and systems developed, which can help the company gain sustainable competitive advantages.

The agreement was formalised at a ceremony held earlier today at UiTM, Shah Alam where DNeX was represented by Executive Deputy Chairman Datuk Samsul Husin and Dato’ Roslan Ramli, Advisor of DNeX RFID. UiTM was represented by Vice Chancellor Prof. Emeritus Datuk Ir. Dr Mohd Azraai Kassim, and Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohd Nazip Suratman.

“We are pleased to formalise our partnership with UiTM to advance IT solutions especially in the RFID sector. We believe the partnership will help us move in the right direction for our long-term business sustainability and stay competitive in today’s technologically advanced, ever-changing business world,” said Datuk Samsul Husin.

He said the agreement allows DNeX to leverage on UiTM’s resources and research capacity to meet industry demands. “Collaboration between academia and industry in the past has proven to drive innovation. As such, we welcome such collaboration between DNeX and UiTM and we hope this leads to new innovation and capabilities to meet market requirements,” he added.

The agreement is expected to pave the way for further collaboration on DNeX’s digital technology capabilities and services such as its Dagang Net eScroll, a blockchain-backed innovative platform for employers, graduates, universities and training providers to authenticate academic and training certificates.
