Kuala Lumpur, 18 August 2014 – Dagang NeXchange Berhad (formerly known as TIME Engineering Berhad) is working together with Selangor Freight Forwarders and Logistics Association (SFFLA) in efforts towards advancing training and human capital development for the trade facilitation and logistics industry.

Dagang NeXchange Berhad or DNeX through its subsidiary company Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd has recently provided a sponsorship of 25 units of personal computers to the association to be used for training and educational programmes conducted by the association for its members as well as the industry.

The PCs are placed at the association’s premise namely Wisma SFFLA at a training room now dubbed as “Dagang Net Training Room”. Under this sponsorship collaboration, Dagang Net can also leverage on the training room and the association’s facilities to conduct training and educational programmes.

A memorandum of agreement on the sponsorship collaboration was recently signed at Wisma SFFLA in Port Klang. At the event, DNeX’s Deputy Executive Chairman Datuk Samsul Husin, who is also Executive Chairman of Dagang Net, signed on behalf of the company while SFFLA was represented by its President Alvin Chua.

Established in 1973 and currently boasts a membership of more than 600, SFFLA is driven by its mission to promote its members’ activities and enhance the awareness of Port Klang as the premier port in Malaysia through promoting services and incentives available in the port.

“We are pleased to undertake this sponsorship collaboration with SFFLA, which has been an important stakeholder and partner for us throughout the years. We certainly lookforward to future collaborations with the association in efforts to enhance overall effectiveness and competitiveness of the trade facilitation and logistics industry to ease the facilitation and streamlining of international trade processes for smoother transactions,” said Samsul.

He added that DNeX’s sponsorship collaboration with SFFLA is also line with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility, which focus includes education.

With this development, the United Kingdom will become the 12th member of the CPTPP, joining the current members: Malaysia, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam, all of whom have already implemented the agreement.

ANNOUNCEMENT: ENTRY INTO FORCE OF THE COMPREHENSIVE AND PROGRESSIVE AGREEMENT FOR TRANS-PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM

Please be informed that the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) has announced that the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) will come into effect for the United Kingdom on 15 December 2024. The UK will join the existing 11 member countries: Malaysia, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam. As a result, Malaysian exporters will be able to apply for the Preferential Certificate of Origin (PCO) for exports to the UK starting from 15 December 2024.
