Can you share a little bit about yourself?
I came from a very small family as I only have one older brother. Now I am married to a loving wife and we share two kids; a beautiful four year old daughter and one year old son. I'm originally from Kajang but I've now settled down in Sepang. I began working directly after I graduated secondary school. Since then I've worked a variety of jobs, namely as a storekeeper, Sony factory worker, at a fast food joint and the last job I did before I joined Dagang Net as a dispatch. As a person, I could say that I'm generally a friendly person and I enjoy helping people in times of need.
How did you come to work at Dagang Net?
I found that there was a vacancy here in Dagang Net Careline through a friend, and he suggested that I try out for the job. I started working here in March 2014 so it has been six years since I worked here. At that time, I was at a point in my life where I needed a change and I was actively seeking out a job in the corporate world, a career that would allow me to work in a setting of an office.
Working as a Dagang Net Careliner was something completely new for me and I was overwhelmed with everything when I first came in. My first day was sort of a culture shock because I imagine the switch from being a dispatch to sitting in an office for eight hours, in front of a computer and getting hundreds of calls from essentially strangers. But slowly, I got used to the job.
What do you enjoy most about working at Dagang Net Careline?
Ultimately, I find great satisfaction when I get to efficiently solve issue faced by the customers. I get an inexplicable sense of fulfilment whenever I solve any issues and hearing how much it makes them happy, oddly enough, makes me happy as well. I'm very grateful for that. In addition to that, I have fun colleagues who are always happy and at times "crazy", always full of positive energy. It's great to be surrounded by positive energy while working as they can boost my mood and lift my spirit up even on a tough day.
What do you do at Dagang Net and on a day to day basis? What are your responsibilities?
Everyday I would make it a point to arrive at work earlier than the office hours, usually 30 minutes earlier, to prepare myself for the day. I would make myself a cup of hot drink, check my emails for all the previous reports, unresolved issues or issues that require follow ups. From then on I would log into the system and start picking up calls. Typically calls would come in every minute of the day but whenever I don't have any calls, I would go back to all the reports and follow up on it.
Essentially, my responsibilities as a Dagang Net Careliner is to pick up every call and keep track of all issues faced by customers. When I'm faced with these issues, my utmost duty as a Dagang Net Careliner is to try my best to do "first call resolution" which means solving the problem on the spot. If required, I would need to escalate the issue to relevant persons such as my superior or other departments to assess the problem.
What are some of the lessons you have learned working at Dagang Net Careline?
As a team, there's a lot of things that I've learnt from working at Dagang Net Careline. For example, you have to be selfless and are able to take other people's opinions. In a company sometimes you need to remember to reach out for help from other departments. Their approaches and solutions might be different from yours and this can ease the troubles you are facing. In addition, I believe when it comes to working in a team, discipline is important. As a Dagang Net Careliner especially, it's very crucial to be punctual and to have our work submitted on time.
Personally, I've grown as a person working at Dagang Net Careline, I can see how much my self-confidence has greatly improved which simultaneously boost my communications skills as well. I used to be afraid to converse with other people, especially people I am not used to. I've also learnt to deal with customers, especially difficult ones. I could say that I am able to communicate well with customers and I am able to explain and answer any questions. That's what I like the most about myself after working at Dagang Net.
On your off days, what activities do you enjoy doing?
On my off days, normally I would go back to my hometown to visit my children who live there. Every week I would return to my hometown in Sungai Besar Selangor, depending on my off days. Sometimes I could get the whole weekend off, so during those weekends I would spend time with my children and bring them out to places nearby where we could eat and buy toys. During the Movement Control Order, I didn't get to see my kids much and could only video call them. It is a bit tough but it's nice to know that being at home ensures their safety.
My hobby is everything related to motorcycles. I like to modify motorcycles and I've had this hobby since high school. Until today, I'm still involved in the automotive field since my brother has a workshop and I would sometimes come down to help him out.
After I come home from work, I would usually unwind by surfing the Internet and watching YouTube. Some of the YouTubers I like are PrinceMeed, Syahmi Saazli, and Thinkers Studio. Of course, I also enjoy being on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
