Can you share a little bit about yourself?
I am from Tapah, Perak and the eldest from nine siblings. After I finished school, I continued my education in Diploma in Business Studies in Negeri Sembilan.
My first stint in customer service was with Tenaga Nasional Berhad and soon after,
I worked for a retail and development company. When I found out about an opening in Dagang Net Careline, I applied for this position and luckily, I was given the opportunity work at this wonderful workplace and have been working here since 2014.
I am married with two young kids, a boy and a girl. Outside of work, I love listening to music as I find it to be a great stress reliever. While I do download and store music in my pen drive, I have a huge collection of CDs, mostly works of AR Rahman. I guess you can call me a bit old school (laughs).
What do you like most about your role in customer service?
I have been working in customer service ever since I entered the workforce and the main reason why I am still in this line of work is because I enjoy talking to people. When you talk to customers, you need to listen and understand what they need and where they are coming from. This is an important aspect for you to be able to easily help them.
Also, when you are in customer service, you are actually representing your company; and this is something, I believe, everyone in the customer service industry should be proud of.
What is the most challenging part?
It can be tough when a customer comes to you with a barrage of demands but I am pleased that we have great team work and infectious positive energy here in Careline. Working and solving problem together as a team can help you these challenges.
In addition to that, I personally put in more effort in listening and understanding the tricky situation our customer is in. This allows me to see the underlying matters and give me the advantage to effectively find the right solutions for them.
An experience you remember and would like to share?
This might be cliche but working in this line of work, I always remember whenever I get compliments and appreciation from customers for a job well done.
In Summary
Being in customer service can teach you a lot on how to sharpen your communication skills with people, whether it's at work or outside of work. I believe that you can take what you've learned such as controlling emotions and managing stress into your personal daily life.
