Kuala Lumpur, 12 February 2018 – Dagang NeXchange Berhad ("DNeX") has reached a new peak - in the literal sense - when its employees successfully made their way to reach the summit of Mount Kinabalu.

A group of 28 climbers from the company comprising staff and management recently took the challenge to conquer the highest peak in Malaysia.

To make their success even sweeter, DNeX is contributing a sum of RM30,000 for community building namely to Sabah Parks for conservatory efforts.

"Our employees were driven to complete the challenge as a group and individual accomplishment. Moreover, before we begin the challenge, the company also made a donation pledge of RM1,000 for each employee who reaches the summit. I believe this also contributed to their drive to complete the climb, knowing that they will be contributing to a good cause," said Datuk Samsul Husin, Executive Deputy Chairman of DNeX.

Dubbed "DNeX Takes Kinabalu 2018", the challenge began at Timpohon Gate at an altitude of 1,866 metres. From here, hikers trekked a distance of 6.5 kilometres over six hours to reach the Panalaban Base Camp at 3,270 metres. They then made an overnight stop at Panalaban before continuing the journey up for another three kilometres to reach the summit near dawn.

Mountain climbing and hiking are part of recreational and sporting programmes organised by DNeX for its employees throughout the year. The company also promotes volunteerism among employees namely in its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

"This is part of our employee engagement aimed to promote work life balance, and nurture working together effectively and team work," said Datuk Samsul Husin.

The climbers underwent about a year of training including safe and effective methods of technical climb, and climbs to such locations as Gunung Angsi, Bukit Senaling and Gunung Datuk in Negeri Sembilan, and Bukit Kutu in Pahang.
