DATUK SAMSUL HUSIN
Datuk Samsul Husin is Executive Chairman of Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd (Dagang Net).
He has more than 20 years of experience in accounting and IT specialising in financial systems, system planning and designing. His areas of specialty also include system computerisation namely simplifying decision support systems, public sector accounting for statutory bodies, change management and project management.
He started his career in 1986 with Selangor State Secretary Housing Division and later served as a lecturer at the Malaysian Entrepreneur Development Centre, Universiti Teknologi MARA.
He then joined the private sector in 2002 to hold positions in financial-cum-portfolio management arena before joining Century Software (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Censof Holdings Berhad (Censof), which is involved in the design, development, implementation and marketing of financial management solutions. He led the development and transformation of Censof into a public-listed company in 2011.
In 2013, he led Censof in acquiring a 45.03 per cent controlling interest of DNeX (then known as Time Engineering Berhad) from Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the strategic investment fund of the Government of Malaysia. He also sits on the Boards of Censof and Ping Petroleum Limited.
Datuk Samsul has received several awards in recognition of his accomplishments including being named “Ikon Usahawan BCPLC 2014-2105” by Ikon PLC Bumiputera, a Malaysian business publication, based on his achievements in leading two public listed companies namely DNeX and Censof.
He also received the Technopreneur Excellence Award 2011 from the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM). The award is presented to an outstanding ICT entrepreneur based on such criteria as revenue growth, leadership in new product introduction and innovation, investments in R&D and customer adoption or success of the application or product. He graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Financial Planner.
DATUK OSMAN PERCY KING JONES @ ABU BAKAR
Datuk Osman Percy King Jones @ Abu Bakar is Director of Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd (Dagang Net). He is also Managing Director of Almatab Sdn Bhd, a company with involvement in construction operations and management.
Datuk Osman was Secretary General of the Malay Contractors Association of Malaysia from 2004 to 2010 and previously, Treasure General from 1999 to 2004. He was responsible to head administration of the association with 15,000 members nationwide, liaising with relevant government agencies and ministries, attending meetings with Ministers and senior government officials as well as charting way forward for members of the association to be prepared to face challenges in the industry. He was responsible in introducing information technology to replace conventional methods of project management and monitoring system.
He was also director of Construction Labour Exchange Centre Berhad (CLAB) from 2005 to 2011.
ABDUL KHALIL ABDULLAH
Abdul Khalil Abdullah is Executive Director of Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd effective 15 July 2017.
In his current role, Khalil manages Dagang Net’s stakeholder management activities, primarily to create and implement engagement strategies to develop and maintain the company’s reputation within the trade facilitation sector, particularly via its unique positioning as sole operator of the National Single Window for Trade Facilitation in Malaysia.
He has extensive project involvement spanning more than fifteen years of experience in product development and project management, having been instrumental in growth initiatives and service excellence at Dagang Net, leveraging on the company’s scale and processes to electronically connect communities within the country’s trade facilitation sector.
Khalil joined the TIME Group of Companies as Sales and Business Development Manager for TIME Systems Integrators Sdn Bhd in 1995. He was then assigned a transfer to Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd (then known as EDI Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.) as Project Director in 2000, where, notably his key achievement include the formulation of strategies for the extensive roll-out of SMK-Dagang Net nationwide implementation for electronic Customs declaration system, including the implementation of the e-Logistics service in Penang. Khalil then took on the position as Regional Manager, which role was primarily to roll-out the regional network of Kedai EDI at various touchpoints across the country, and was instrumental to secure stakeholders cooperation and user buy-in to ensure seamless services by Kedai EDI to all SMK-Dagang Net system users.
From 2013 onwards, Khalil led Dagang Net’s stakeholder management implementation strategies, with the key deliverable of retaining Dagang Net’s position as leader and operator of Malaysia’s National Single Window for Trade Facilitation.
Khalil graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Indiana, Terre Haute, Indiana, USA (1984) and thereafter, obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Miami, Florida, USA (1986).
MOHAMED HAZLI MOHAMED HUSSAIN
Mohamed Hazli Mohamed Hussain is Executive Director of Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd effective 21 December 2017.
Hazli has more than 27 years of experience in the information technology industry with a strong focus on designing and deploying large information technology systems for public and private organisations with multiple stakeholder involvement, as well as experience in corporate planning, corporate strategy, e-commerce and Islamic development.
Prior to his current role, he was Group Chief Executive Officer of DagangHalal Berhad from 2013 to October 2016, and was instrumental in spearheading the company’s successful listing exercise in London, NEX Exchange Growth Market in 2016.
Hazli is also an accomplished business entrepreneur who founded AEGIS Infotek Sdn Bhd. Key achievements include establishing and managing an outsourcing contact centre for customers including Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd and Shell Kiosks Singapore, and developing and deploying a national electronic permit (“e-Permit”) and electronic manifest (“e-Manifest”) application and approval systems that linked the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, other permit issuing agencies, shipping agents as well as port operators.
Other similar career achievements include the launch and expansion of two financial portals, IslamiQ.com and IslamiQfinance.com for IslamiQ.com Asia Sdn Bhd; delivering the National Trade Network infrastructure, communications equipment and UNIX systems; implementation of the Port Klang Community System, and the implementation of an electronic payment system on Dagang Net’s infrastructure, during his tenure with Electronic Data Interchange (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (currently known as Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd) between 1993 to 1997.
Hazli started his career with The Computer Aided Engineering Network in United States in 1990. Upon his return to Malaysia a year later, he took on the position of Data Communications and Networking Specialist with International Computers (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd where he undertook to connect six Malaysian Royal Police district head quarters’ systems with the HQ mainframe system for the first traffic summons online system in Malaysia.
Hazli graduated with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Optics from the University of Michigan, USA.
MD SAFFI BIN NADZIR
Md Saffi bin Nadzir was appointed as the Director of Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd effective 7 October 2019.
Prior to his current position, he has held various positions within Kumpulan Wang Persaraan Diperbadankan (“KWAP”). In his last role as Senior Director of Pension Department, he oversaw the management and operation of all pension services, proposed and implemented transformational initiatives that bring value add to KWAP’s services and performances and monitor and update current statutory regulation on the latest announcement by the Government which relate to pensioners benefits and welfare.
During his tenure with KWAP from 2007 to 2019, he also held the position of Head of Transition Office, Covering Chief Operation Officer and Director of Contribution. His portfolio included establishing a small team to study the whole pension operation and implement quick wins wherever possible to increase operational efficiency, preparing the Service Level Agreement (“SLA”) between KWAP and the Government of Malaysia, directly reporting to the CEO and overseeing five operation departments including Information Technology, and analysing, proposing and implementing strategies in order to maximise collection of contribution to increase the size of the retirement fund.
In October 2005, Md Saffi was attached to the Accountant General Office within the Pension Trust Fund Division as Head of Fixed Income Department, where he was responsible in managing various types of securities such as bond, money market, loan, Malaysian Government securities and external fixed income manager, and managed a total fund of RM35 billion to be invested and minimising risk on each asset categories.
Md Saffi holds an MBA from University Utara Malaysia and an Advanced Diploma in Accountancy from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia.
