Message from Executive Chairman

Datuk Samsul Husin

Dagang Net Technologies Sdn. Bhd.

DEAR VALUED CUSTOMERS

The country was abuzz with excitement last month when Mr Jack Ma, Founder and Executive Chairman of Alibaba paid a visit and together with Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, launched the world’s first Digital Free Trade Zone (“DFTZ”).

According to MDeC, DFTZ will provide physical and virtual zones to facilitate small and medium enterprises (“SMEs”) to capitalise on the convergence of the Internet economy and cross-border e-commerce activities. It will be able to support Internet companies to trade goods, provide services, innovate and co-create solutions.

DFTZ is expected to be a boost to Malaysia’s e-Commerce roadmap introduced last year, which aims to double the country’s e-Commerce growth and increase the GDP contribution to RM211 billion or about US$47.68 billion) by year 2020.

Malaysia is leading the e-commerce market in the region generating revenue of US$2.3 billion in 2015. With the launch of the world’s first DFTZ, Malaysia is envisioned to serve as a regional e-fulfillment centre, and also become the regional hub for SMEs, marketplaces and monobrands.

It is also said DFTZ has the potential to double the growth rate of Malaysian SMEs’ goods export by 2025, support about US$65 billion worth of goods moving through DFTZ, and create 60,000 direct and indirect jobs by 2025.

What makes Internet economy and e-commerce different from other technologies is the rate and extent of its growth, hence such initiative as DFTZ can offer abundant possibilities.

This is certainly exciting development for companies such as Dagang Net who are involved both in facilitating cross-border trade and e-commerce., and we certainly will follow this initiative closely.

It has been a year since we introduced DagangNetPOST eNewsletter to you – our valued customers and stakeholders – and we are excited to publish this current issue in an updated and fresher look-and-feel.

We hope you continue to find this eNewsletter useful!

Thank You
