Dagang Net profit, sales on the rise, says CEO

Published by The Star

DAGANG Net Technologies Sdn Bhd expects revenue to grow by about 5% in the current financial year ending Dec 31 from RM46.7mil last year, said chief executive officer Saifol Bahri Shamlan.

The business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce company also aims to raise pre-tax profit by 50% from RM8.3mil in 2004.

“The key strategy to achieve the target is to concentrate on the company's new products such as ePermit and National eManifest,” Saifol told reporters at a media briefing in Port Dickson.

The company will also enhance its core business, eDagang SMK (Sistem Maklumat Kastam), to provide customers with more value-added products and services.

eDagang SMK was developed to reduce paperwork, allowing for quick clearance of goods and cargo through direct linkage with the Customs Department, he said.

There will be regular road shows and forums in Johor Baru, Selangor, Penang as well as Sabah and Sarawak to promote the products.

Dagang Net, formerly known as Electronic Data Interchange (M) Sdn Bhd, is part of the UEM group.

Dagang Net carried out a revamp on its application systems aimed at small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) and multinational companies (MNCs).

The company, which has allocated RM20mil for the revamping activities, started the exercise last year and would complete it by September. Dagang Net also plans to expand its business to countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan , as well as those in the Middle East , through joint ventures.
