KUALA LUMPUR Oct 28 - Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd, the national e-commerce exchange service provider, is set to go global with its home-grown cross-border extension, "CBeX."
CBeX, the first web-indigenous application that allows secure, speedy and seamless cross border trade facilitation information exchange, is the state-of-the-art trade link or extension of the electronic system for Customs procedures.
It also enables the secure transfer of trade documents between importers and exporters of different economies to enable speedy processing of import and export declarations.
Dagang Net is the operator of the national electronic trade facilitation service or "Sistem Maklumat Kastam," (SMK-Dagang Net).
Dagang Net's chief executive officer, Saifol Bahri Shamlan, said in a statement here Thursday that "CBeX opens the opportunity to enhance global trade as millions of companies which until now, routinely ignore foreign enquiries or limit their international businesses to a single market because of the risks and Customs' procedure complexities inherent in doing business across borders."
He said CBeX could play a critical role by providing that much needed trade link to help integrate the region into a robust global trade regime.
"We built CBeX to self-direct customers through the trading processes and provide resources and guides to help educate and build user confidence," he said in a statement here Thursday.
CBeX, targeted to be fully operational in March 2005, is now undergoing a pilot run with several corporate organisations in Malaysia and Singapore.
The service would be extended to other countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines and Indonesia to follow in 2005 and 2006.
"CBex will help fulfill our vision to create a paperless e-Customs regime worldwide," he said, amid continuing efforts by Dagang Net to look for countries to commence linking cross-border trade facilitation electronically with Malaysia.
With CBeX, Dagang Net Technologies has a platform to implement more trade documents cross-border exchange in the future, besides Customs declaration.
The company, which today handles about RM1.8 billion worth of electronic Customs duty payments a year and about 40 million electronic document transfers annually, could in the future qualify leads, collaborate with members of the global trade community to deliver orders, book shipments and store data in one place to provide a secure audit trail.
