Dagang Net Eyes Global Market

Published by The Star (Maritime)

DAGANG Net Technologies Sdn Bhd, is set to go global with its home-grown cross-border extension called CBeX, the first web-indigenous application that allows secure and speedy cross-border trade facilitation information exchange.

Dubbed as the first of its kind in Malaysia, the state-of-the-art trade link of the electronic system for Customs procedures and the secure transfer of trade documents between importers and exporters of different economies to enable speedy processing of import and export declarations.

CBeX enables the efficient operation of a world-class and harmonised Customs procedure allowing higher volumes of imports and exports to be managed with the same level of resources, resulting in higher compliance and faster turnaround for businesses and governments.

“CBeX opens the opportunity to enhance global trade as millions of companies who, until now, routinely ignore foreign enquiries or limit their international businesses to a single market because of the risks and Customs’ procedure complexities inherent in doing business across borders,” said Dagang Net chief executive officer Saifol Bahri Shamlan.

“When you have numerous documents involved in a single cross-border business transaction, there is a greater element of risk. Until now, regional business has always been dominated by large corporations with extended supply chains.

“The vast potential among smaller companies to do business overseas is practically untapped,” he added.

Designed with all businesses in mind, big or small, CBeX will be expanded to address some of the barriers associated with cross-border trade by providing automated, uniform procedures to provide the secure and accurate exchange of trade-related documents such as delivery orders, commercial invoices, packing lists, airway bills, import-export declarations, quotations and more.

With CBeX, Dagang Net has a platform to implement more cross-border exchange of trade documents in the future, besides Customs declaration.
Companies can in the future qualify leads, collaborate with members of the global trade community to deliver orders, book shipments and store data in one place to provide a secure audit trail.

CBeX currently provides value across the entire process when an export declaration automatically becomes import declaration allowing data re-usability amongst business partners, with little or no manual input and resulting in increased efficiency and productivity.

“We know that many businesses often lack the resources and in-house expertise to develop and conduct international business.

“That’s why we’ve built CBeX to self-direct customers through the trading processes and provide resources and guides to help educate and build user confidence,” said Saifol.

“Cross-border initiative is a smart move for all e-trade service providers and their counterparts across borders to come together to collectively promote business growth which is delineated not by geographic or political boundaries but by shared assets and characteristics.

“This is exactly why we built CBeX. We are confident that CBeX can play that critical role by providing that much needed trade link to help integrate the region into a robust global trade regime.”

He said CBeX was here to make cross-border trade seamless.

“We didn’t want anyone to view us as being from one country or the other.

“Dagang Net and our regional counterparts will mount presence together via CBeX to facilitate easy, speedy and seamless access to the regional markets to help businesses compete better in the global trade arena and ultimately promote the economic vibrancy of cross-border regions.”

He said CBeX was now undergoing a pilot run with several corporate organisations based in Malaysia and Singapore who are currently using and exploring its many benefits.
