| All Ports to e-Commerce by Year-end

All seaports and airports in the country are expected to be e-commerce enabled by year-end after a year of delay due to problems in user readiness, training and integration testing, says chief executive officer of Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd Saifol Shamlan.
Dagang Net, appointed as the national e-commerce service provider, was to rollout its services nationwide to all seaports and airports by end of last year. It is a subsidiary of Time Engineering Bhd.
“This is a national project, which involves many parties in the trade facilitation community. Therefore, it is a community issue and not a single party issue, ie, not Royal Malaysian Customs (RMC), Dagang Net or Telekom Malaysia,” Saifol said.
Dagang Net and RMC are currently on the final stages of the nationwide rollout of its Sistem Maklumat Kastam-Dagang.Net service to all major and smaller ports, airports and border crossings including those in Sabah and Sarawak.
The nationwide rollout, which is slotted by year-end would include web-based documents like customs declaration, permits and duty payments that have almost 24-hour facilities.
