1989

  • 12th september 2010, Dagang Net (then “EDIM”) was established as the private sector vehicle to promote United Nations-led initiatives to overcome word trade documentation-related issues.
  • Signing of Concession Agreement with Government & National Chamber of Commerce and Industries Malaysia (NCCIM), and back-to-back Agreement between NCCIM & Dagang Net.
  • NCCIM spearheaded the National Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) project.

1991

  • Dagang Net introduces ‘Aligned Documentation System’ (ADS)-Plastic, a system based on plastic overlays that enables more efficient production and handling common trade documents.
  • The ADS-Plastic form was launched by the then Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz.

1992

  • Dagang Net was granted exclusive electronic connection to Customs SMK to enable adoption of modern trade initiatives.
  • Formation of Malaysia EDIFACT Committee.
  • Formation of EDI Implementation Central Committee.
  • The committee was chaired by the then Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz.

1993

  • Launch of Dagang Net, the EDI clearing centre.
  • Launched by the then Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz in Kuala Lumpur. Other important guests were Klang Port Authority Chairman, Datuk Michael Chen and NCCIM secretary-general Datuk Mohamed Ramli.

1994

  • Malaysia's first e-business project of its kind, the Port Klang Community System (PKCS), begins pilot testing.
  • PKCS goes 'live' and Port Klang takes the first step towards an efficient paperless environment.
  • The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI)-EDI system for textile import and export goes 'live'.
  • The first Dagang Net’s one-stop service center, Kedai EDI was established in Port Klang.  
  • The Department of Veterinary Services (DVS)-EDI system for import/export of livestock goes 'live'.
  • Pilot – 18 January 1994 with 11 organization for 3 months.
  • Live – 4 April 1994.

1995

  • Launch of SOCSO-EDI, part of Dagang Net’s Electronic Payroll system.
  • Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Dagang Net and Royal Malaysian Customs on Sistem Maklumat Kastam (SMK) -Dagang Net Implementation.
  • 100% electronic submission of K1s to SMK.
  • The opening of 1st Kedai EDI in Port Klang.
  • 15 June 1995 – Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Datuk Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir launched the signing ceremony SOCSO-EDI.
  • 21 March 1995 - Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz was the Guest of Honour.

  • The Subang Airport Community System (SACS), the air cargo equivalent of PKCS, goes 'live'.
  • The Jabatan Telekomunikasi Malaysia (JTM)-EDI system for telecommunications equipment license/permits (TAPIS) goes 'live':
  • The Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB)-EDI system for timber export goes 'live'.
  • Roll-out of various non-Trade services.

  • 8 April 1996 - Y.B Datuk Leo Moggie launched the signing ceremony. In 1998, this joint project has won the Public Services Innovation Award 1998 for Joint Public and Private Sector Research.

1997

  • Dagang Net launches its Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) service for payment of Customs duties, the first successful commercial implementation of an electronic payment system in Malaysia.
  • Malaysia's first electronic retail community, the Jaya Jusco Electronic Retail Community, was launched.
  • Dagang Net and Brunei’s Jasra Sdn Bhd formed a joint venture to establish the national electronic commerce for Brunei’s principal sea port.
  • Dagang Net's Managed Network Services (MNS) establishes the X.25 Wide Area Network (WAN) in eight nodes nationwide.
  • Dagang Net launches its corporate website, www.edim.com.my.
  • 10 April 1997 - Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched and witnessed the signing up of the financial services by the representatives of 15 banks.
  • Jaya Jusco made its initial investment of RM 15 million to install the EDI system. Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz witnessed the signing ceremony between Jaya Juso, EDI (M) Sdn Bhd and EDI IT Services Sdn Bhd.
  • July 1997 - Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz was present during the signing ceremony.

1998

  • The Port Klang Free Commercial Zone (FGZ)-EDI system goes 'live'.
  • Dagang Net implements the Total Islamic Banking Solutions (TIBS), the first of its kind in the world, for Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad.
  • Dagang Net launches Dagang Net Online service for PKCS users.
  • Dagang Net introduces KLIA Community System for Free Commercial Zone at KLIA, Sepang.
  • Dagang Net migrates the SACS to KLIA, the nation's newest and biggest international airport in Sepang thereby, equipping it with a world-class electronic trade documentation system.
  • General Manager of Klang Port Authority, Datin O.C Phang was present during the launch.

  • Live implementation of SMK-Dagang*Net in Port Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) Johor, the first state outside the Klang Valley.
  • Dagang Net launches Electronic Excise System (EES), first-of-its-kind e-commerce tool for the motor industry in Malaysia.
  • Launch of National Ports Exchange, an e-infrastructure incorporating various solutions that complete the business value chain in a maritime environment.
  • Launch of eDeclare, an Internet-based application to facilitate preparation and submission of trade documents.

  • SMK-Dagang*Net implementation was further expanded to Causeway (Johor), Penang, Ipoh, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan.
  • Launch of MyPorts' Information Services, a one-stop trade exchange Internet portal.
  • Dagang Net launches Vessel Information System, a system to enable port users to request for shipping information from a port operator electronically.

  • The entire range of MyPorts value-added services that complements its Sistem Maklumat Kastam-DagangNet (SMK-DagangNet), was unveiled.
  • Dagang Net introduces Cross Border Extension (CBeX), the first web-indigenous application that allows seamless cross border trade facilitation information exchange between importers and exporters of different economies.
  • MoA seals between Dagang Net and Korea’s KTNET to collaborate cross border electronic trade facilitation between Malaysia and South Korea.
  • SMK-Dagang*Net expanded to East Malaysia (Sabah & Sarawak).
  • Dagang Net inks a regional alliance with PT EDI Indonesia to speed up trade facilitation between Malaysia and Indonesia.
  • A collaboration between Dagang Net and Crimsonlogic Pte Ltd of Singapore to develop Cross-border Data Clearance between Malaysia and Singapore.
  • Dagang Net unveils Order Fulfillment Services for RosettaNet Procurement Module, an online portal for Small Medium Industries (SMIs) to market their products and services to multinational corporations.
  • Revitalization of ePermit, an online import / export permit applications to relevant Government Agencies.
  • March 2004
  • The agreement was signed by Dagang Net’s Chairman Datuk Syed Muhammad Abdul Kadir and KTNET Chief Executive Officer and President Shin Dong-Oh.

2005

  • Dagang Net launches ePermit application system for the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry.
  • Dagang Net in collaboration with CIMB Bank launched Malaysia’s first Internet-based Customs duty payment, DutyNet.
  • e-Cargo Insurance Soft launch – a collaboration with Tahan Insurance Malaysia Berhad (Tahan). It is a web-based service that facilitates the purchase of marine cargo insurance.
  • MoA signed with TS TransAsia Sdn Bhd, a member of Tuck Sun Logistics Group for them to provide vital information on rail and Landbridge schedules to be published in Dagang Net’s web-based portal called ‘MyPorts’.
  • 14 July 2005 – Secretary-General of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Abi Musa Asa’ari Mohamed Nor launched the ePermit application system in Kuala Lumpur.
  • 10 August 2005 – Director General of Royal Malaysia Customs, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Abdul Halil Abdul Mutalib launched the DutyNet in Putrajaya 25 November 2005.
  • 2 August 2005 – The MOA was inked by Dagang Net’s CEO, Encik Saifol Bahri Shamlan and Managing Director of Tuck Sun, Mr Kuan Kok Onn.

2006

  • ePermit launches its full implementation of web-based permit application system for Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry (MAAOBI).
  • Dagang Net launches the ePermit system with Malaysian Cocoa Board (MCB) in Tawau, Sabah.
  • Pilot run of the eManifest system – the system allows users to submit CUSREP and CUSCAR to the respective Authorities utilizing the Internet as the primary data carrier source.
  • 21 September 2006 – Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin officiated the launching of the full implementation of the ePermit system in Putrajaya.
    Dagang Net won 2 awards for the ePermit system:
    1. MSC-Asia Pacific ICT (MSC-APICTA) Awards 2005 – ‘Best E-Government & Services’ category
    2. Technology Business Review Award  2006 – ‘Best E-Commerce Company’ category
  • 24 March 2006 - Secretary-General of the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities, YBhg Datu Dr. Michael Dosim Lunjew launched the ePermit for the Malaysian Cocoa Board (MCB).

2007

  • Implementation of Paperless Permit and K1/K2 validation on permit with 11 Permit Issuing Agencies.
  • Dagang Net signs the ePermit Agreement with Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC).
  • Dagang Net becomes a Member of the National Single Window (NSW) Committee.  NSW is a national project initiated by the Malaysian Government, lead by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to enable a secured and efficient electronic exchange of trade-related documents through a single point of entry.
  • eManifest went LIVE in Port Klang in November 2008.
  • 15 August 2007 - Sarawak Chief Minister Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud witnessed the signing of the agreement.  STIDC was represented by its General Manager Datuk Haji Len Talif Salleh and Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd by its Chairman Datuk Dr Syed Muhammad Syed Abdul Kadir.

2008

  • eManifest went LIVE in Kuantan in February 2008.
  • Dagang Net bagged Technology Business Review ASEAN Awards 2008 for Excellence in the ASEAN Information Technology Sector.
  • Dagang Net bagged the award for its outstanding efforts to innovate optimal e-commerce initiatives that opened up the Malaysian gateway to international trading communities.

2009

  • ePCO  Pilot commence with MITI HQ.
  • The first phase of ASEAN Single Window (ASW) Pilot Project between Malaysia and Indonesia commence on 1st  July 2009.
  • Dagang Net 's electronic Preferential Certificate of Origin (ePCO)  won the prestigious  "2009 E-Asia Award" under Trade Facilitation category. 
  • Malaysia MSC APICTA 2009 Awards -  'Best e-Government and Services' category.
  • 2009 E-Asia Awards for Trade Facilitation.
  • Dagang Net appointed by Malaysian Government to design, develop, operate and maintain the National Single Window (NSW).
  • Dagang Net has won the Merit Award for its Electronic Preferential Certificate of Origin or (ePCO) application in the 'Best e-Government & Services' category. ePCO is a Web-based Certificate of Origin application and approval system. It is an online document that certifies the country of origin of a particular product, and intended solely to prove the origin of goods in order to satisfy customs or trade requirements.
  • The 2009 eASIA Awards, administrated by Asia Pacific Council for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (AFACT) was held in conjunction with the 27th AFACT Meetings and EDICOM 2009. This award recognizes the significance and great effort made by Dagang Net to enhance the international trade and business.

2010

  • Dagang Net has made impressive and steady progress and has accomplished a list of activities with regards to the NSW project implementation such as the implementation of NSW Out-reached program road shows and Stakeholder Engagement Session with Ministry of Finance (MOF), Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI), Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD), Ministry of Transport, all Permit Issuance Agencies, Port Operators, Terminal Ground Handlers, Telecommunication providers, Financial Institutions and Trade Association & Chambers.
  • Dagang Net has successfully expanded our ePermit service to East Malaysia, Sarawak and our ePCO service to all MITI branches nationwide.
  • Our strong connectivity with the ASW (ASEAN Single Window) member economies has expedited the NSW-ASW integration to exchange ePCO (Electronic Preferential Certificate of Origin) with Indonesia and Philippines.
  • Dagang Net has been awarded “ANUGERAH PENGHARGAAN LectureMAKER 2010” by Telekom Smart School Sdn Bhd at the LectureMAKER Awards 2010 held on 22 December 2010 at the Le Meridien Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

2011

  • Dagang Net continues to expand its business scope with the introduction of eSijil 3P System,  a web-based system for the application and approval from  Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (FAMA) for  the grading, labeling and packaging of agriculture produce.
  • SMK-Dagang Net for the electronic submission of Customs declarations was extended to smaller Customs stations in Sarawak to cover Tebedu, Kuching and Bintulu (Customs Stations Y29, Y43 and Y39).
  • Expansion of ePermit for Department Of Veterinary Services (DVS) branches,   which includes Johor, Melaka, Perlis, Pahang, Terengganu, Kedah, Kelantan, Klang Valley and Labuan.
  • Expansion of ePermit to Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Energy Commission.
  • Paperless implementation of Customs Declaration process for the import, export and transshipment section (K1, K2 and K9).  This paperless environment was successfully implemented for Royal Malaysian Customs Selangor’s B10 & B18 stations.
  • Implementation of Paperless Permit for Certificate of Approval (COA) for Energy Commission, SIRIM and Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).
  • Relocation of Dagang Net's Kedai EDI Port Klang to Bandar Bukit Tinggi Klang, a new business and commercial hub for a more efficient service.
  • Successful deployment of 4 new schemes for ePCO under Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI)

  • Extension of eManifest  to Kemaman Port for Pahang Community
  • ePermit STA Phase 2 (Permit Application Module) completed and went live with Atomic Energy Licensing Board, Ministry of International Trade and Industries (MITI), Pharmaceutical Services Division-Ministry of Health and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
  • Launch of Global Halal Exchange, an online hub to trade, transact, exchange information and advertise products  in the halal business world.
  • Dagang Net obtains the International Organization for Standardization ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification from SIRIM.  The certification is in accordance to statement of applicability version 1.0 (3 May 2011) “Information Security Management System for the Protection of Information under Dagang Net IT Infrastructure”
  • Dagang Net receives Technology Licensing Recognition from MIMOS.   This innovative technology transfer would enable the integration of MIMOS technology platform into Dagang Net’s existing products lines for a more competitive edge.
