Kuala Lumpur, 27 March 2018 – Dagang NeXchange Berhad ("DNeX"), through wholly-owned subsidiary Global Market eCommerce Sdn Bhd, has signed two memoranda of understanding to work together in the development of a Halal Park in the Philippines.

Under the MoUs, undertaken with the Department of Education Region V and Naga City of the Philippines, DNeX is given the exclusive right to undertake several initiatives for the Halal Park including research and development of a Halal Park and certification of product and services within the Halal Park.

In addition, the initiatives also include establishing and managing the Halal logistics within the Halal Park, providing Halal related training, and marketing internationally all certified Halal products within the Halal Park. DNeX has also agreed to establish a Halal Certification Body for the Halal Park.

The MoUs were formalised in Naga City, the Philippines recently.

According to Datuk Samsul Husin, Executive Deputy Chairman of DNeX, this marks a key milestone in the company’s venture in the Halal industry.

“The opportunity in Halal industry is vast with Muslims accounting for about a quarter of the world's over than 7 billion population, and spread across the world. This opportunity can only grow as the concept of Halal takes on a stronger foothold,” he said.

He added that a segment of the Halal industry that is increasingly gaining attention and where DNeX has a strong interest is Halal logistics, which can be defined as ensuring Halal integrity in the flow of products and goods throughout the supply chain.

DNeX currently operates GoHalal eMarketplace for the Halal industry, which is accessible at www.gohalal.com.my. It is taking the Halal industry online where companies or individuals can get suppliers or buyers for their products and services as well as obtain and exchange information on the industry within clicks.
